Life Conhabit Andalusia will analyse ecotourism with city councils and tourist companies in a series of multi-sector meetings

Life Conhabit Andalusia will go a step further. They will now hold meetings in order to sit round the same table as the councils of towns with spaces favoured by the project and businesses operating within them.

Thanks to the meetings that they have held with both parties since the beginning of the year, this European initiative that the Environment and Town and Country Planning Department coordinates has confirmed the high levels of interest from the representative towns as well as business people.

These multi-sector meetings will start this week in Huelva, with a meeting planned for tomorrow, Tuesday 12 December, at the Dunas del Odiel Botanical Garden; the next one, on Wednesday 13th will be in Malaga. Specifically, in the Detunda-Cueva Botanical Garden of Nerja, in Nerja, where councils and business people from Malaga and Granada are invited; on Thursday 14th, it will be Almeria’s turn, with a meeting planned at the Aula del Mar Museum in Roquetas de Mar, and finally, Cadiz will end the round of meetings at the old Barbate market next Monday 18 December.

The aim of this new round of meetings is to join forces among the main sectors involved with these spaces when putting in place joint initiatives that, on the one hand, serve to raise awareness among the population about the environmental richness that these spaces contain and the importance of protecting it, and on the other hand, to promote the development of the towns where these spaces are located with activities that benefit their economy and create employment.

In this vein, the promotion of sustainable tourism or ecotourism, is discovered as the best option for achieving this conservation-development tandem in the region, without forgetting other related options with the boosting of green employment or the promotion of products from Natura 2000 Network spaces.
